This will be the prelude to the Women's 60th Annual Donor Luncheon scheduled for Nov. 28 at Congregation Shaarey Zedek. At that time, the women hope to complete their commitment to pur- chase a fire engine in Israel at a cost of $225,000. The guest speaker at the pre-donor rally will be Rev. James R. Lyons, the founder and director of the Ecumenical Institute for Jewish-Christian Studies. Rev. Lyons is a member of the Scholars Committee, Holocaust Memorial Center, Detroit; advisory board, Inter- national Center for Holocaust Studies, Anti-Defamation League; executive committee, National Christian Leader- ship Conference for Israel; and executive committee, Bridges for Peace. His publications include: The Holocaust: The Christian Moral Culpability; Lebanon: A Country of Conflicts; Idolatry: The Impact of NA- tional Socialism on the Chur- ches of Nazi Europe. Rev. Maistelman, who recently resigned as temple executive director. The search committee is under the direction of Phillip Fischer. "We decided to wait to begin the search until after the new year," said Rabbi Daniel Polish, a member of the committee along with Anthony Brown, Stanley Cohen, Laurence Deitch, Dr. and Mrs. Alfred Kreindler, Dr. Lawrence Lee, George Stern and Stuart Lockman. Maistelman resigned effective Oct. 1 to return to Marblehead, Mass., and become executive director of the North Shore Jewish Community Center, which he formerly served as assis- tant executive director. He came to Beth El in 1986 after serving as executive director of the Richmond, Va., JCCenter. Rabbi Polish said Maistelman's resignation was accepted "with regret." ❑ Israel Radio Listener's Club Idelle Ross, radio personali- ty on Israel Radio's overseas English language broadcasts, will speak at the inaugural meeting of the Detroit area Israel Radio Listener's Club 8 p.m. Monday at the United Hebrew Schools. Ross is a former Livonia resident, who settled in israel in 1972. She produces three popular weekly programs on Kol Yisrael — "Shabbat Shalom," "Mainstream" and "Living Here."
