leaves a daughter and son-in-
law, Arlene and Sam

great-grand-
children.

FANNY SCHMITTKE, 71,
of Detroit, died Oct. 7. She
leaves a sister, Jeanette Wolfe
of Detroit.

BETTY SCHREIBER, 85,
died Oct. 7. She leaves a
brother and sister-in-law,
Morris and Rose Moss of Oak
Park; and sisters-in-law.

ANDREA ROCHELLE
TURI, 40, of Birmingham,
died Oct. 4. She leaves her
husband, Michael; sons,
Kevin, Jason and Brian; her
mother, Theodora Greek of
Farmington Hills; and her
sister, Sandra Greek Norton
of Ann Arbor.

HERMINA GRUNBERG
VLASOPOLOS, 70 of Saint
Clair Shores, died Oct. 5. She
leaves a daughter and son-in-
law, Anca Vlasopolos and An-
thony Ambrogio and one
grandchild.

Mr. Cohen was born in
Detroit and was a member of
Adat Shalom Synagogue, a
charter member of the Henry
Morgenthau Lodge of B'nai
B'rith and the Bale Post
Jewish War Veterans. He
received the Purple Heart
during WW II.
A resident of West Bloom-
field, he leaves his wife
Evelyn; a son and daughter-
in-law, Robert and Susan of
Plantation, Fla.; a daughter
and son-in-law, Ellen and
Marc Buchner of Beachwood,
Ohio; a brother and sister-in-
law, Sol and Viola of Far-
mington Hills; a sister,
Shirley Monson of Encino,
Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Bert A. Hyman

Bert A. Hyman, 68, a
former Detroiter of Highland
Beach, Fla., died Oct. 6. He
was president of United Shirt
Distributors, with 20 stores in
the metropolitan Detroit
area. He retired in 1988 after
47 years with the company.
For 33 years he was president.
He was an active boater and
was a member of the Grosse
Pointe Yacht Club and the
Gross Pointe Rotary Club.
Mr. Hyman leaves his wife,
Norma; a son and daughter-
in-law, Bert and Elizabeth
Hyman Jr. of St. Clair Shores;
two daughters and a son-in-
law, Cathy and Bernard
Schrott of Bloomfield Hills
and Deborah Ferries of Union
Lake; his mother, Martha
Hyman of Southfield; his
sister, Barbara Sharpe of
Miami Beach; and four grand-
children. Services and inter-
ment in Detroit.

William Rock

William Rock, president
and co-owner of Roslyn's In-
timate Apparal in Applegate
Shopping Center since 1978,
died Oct. 7. He was 71. He
was born in Rochester, N.Y.
Mr.Rock was a member of
Temple Shir Shalom, the
Knights of Pythias, and was
a sergeant major during WW
II with a European tour of du-
ty, U.S. Army.
He leaves his wife, Roslyn;
a son and daughter-in-law,
Steven and Carol of West
Bloomfield and one grand-
daughter.

Irving Cohen

Attend Meeting

Irving Cohen, retired co-
owner of the Princeton Shops,
men's and boys' wear, died
Oct. 8. He was 66.
Mr. Cohen had been co-
owner from 1957-1983 and
retired when the business
was sold. There were stores in
Detroit and West Bloomfield.

Washington, D.C. —
Avrohom Gold and Michael
Baum of Detroit were among
the 200 Orthodox Jewish ac-
tivists who met with Vice
President Dan Quayle and
key congressional and ad-
ministrative figures Sept. 14
as part of Agudath Israel.
