Center Opens
New Hotline

T

he Jewish Community
Center has opened a
24-hour hotline tele-
phone service for metro
Detroit Jewish singles.
Called the Jewish Corn-
munity Center Singles
Event Source, the hotline
provides information on up-
coming Center singles
events and any cancellations
or additions to that schedule,
according to Leanie
Gunsberg, Center singles
coordinator. The hotline
number is 351-4422.
The hotline is the culmina-
tion of nine months' plann-
ing, said Gunsberg, and
began serving the communi-
ty the first week in
September. The hotline is
aimed at keeping singles
more up-to-date than was
previously possible, she said.
The hotline tells the
schedule a month at a time
and is updated weekly or as
needed, Gunsberg said.

Singles Pressures
To Be Discussed

The Oakland University
Continuum Center will offer
a four-session workshop that
covers the deeper, more com-
plex issues of single living,
entitled "Handling the
Pressures of Single Life."
The program, led by com-
munications specialist Bar-
bara Halpern, will be held at
the Bloomfield Township
Library on Tuesdays, Oct. 10,
17, 24 and 31, from 7-10 p.m.
There is a fee. To register, call

Folk Dancing
Set For Singles

All singles are invited to
participate in folk dancing at
The Birmingham Temple
from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 15.
Dances will be taught.
There is a nominal charge.

Break-Fast Dance,
Happy Hour Slated

The Jewish Community
Center Singles are sponsor-
ing a "Yom Kippur Break The
Fast Dance" for singles of all
ages.
The dance will be held at 9
p.m. Monday at the
Maple/Drake Building. There
will be live music by Lee
Pantely and New Romance,
refreshments and a cash bar.

Information Night
Planned By Group

A drop-in information night
for the newly organized Selec-
tive Singles Club is schedul-
ed from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Monday
at the Denny's Restaurant in
Troy.
The group is for college-
educated, divorced, widowed
or never-married singles age
30-65 and is based on the
Jewish Singles Handbook by
Jacklyn Rolf, group founder.
