It's holiday season and
Peltz is anxious to usher in
the New Year with apples.
From his office overlooking
the grounds, Peltz, a
yeshivah bochur, talks about
the next holiday, Sukkot.
He looks forward to the
yearly visits by yeshivah
and Lubavitch students, who
come to the cider mill during
the annual harvest. Peltz
likes to daven with them. ❑

Honey
Continued from Page 25
They are thoughtful insects.
When a bee is dying, he will
drag himself outside the
hive so his comrades won't
have to deal with removing
his corpse.
"And they're extremely
cooperative in terms of get-
ting the job done," Letvin
says. "They all work
together. They can't survive
by themselves and they

honey, though
scholars say this honey was a
syrup made from dates or
grapes. It is called the essence

honey." In the talmudic
period, honey came to mean
principally bees' honey.
Letvin, who davens with
Rabbi Chaskel Grubner of
Congregation Dovid Ben
Nuchim and enjoys studying
Torah with his children,
often speaks at his children's
schools about bees and
honey, about 200 million
pounds of which are produc-
ed each year in the United
States. People harbor many
misconceptions about the in-
sects, he says.
"I hear a lot of people com-
plain about bees in their
sukkah," Letvin_ says.
"Those aren't honeybees.
They're yellow jackets.
They're probably there
because they're attracted to
meat. And they have no fear
at all."
Honeybees rarely sting
because they die 30 minutes
after doing so. Yes, Letvin
says, he's been stung many
times. He likes it. That's
right. He likes it.
"A bee sting is a cure for
arthritis," he explains. "So I
actually want to get stung.
