Mikhail and his parents,
Lev and Alla, were refused
permission to emigrate
when they first applied for
visas in January 1980.

Emily Nathan, daughter of
Drs. Lawrence and Ruth
Nathan, twinned her bat
mitzvah at Temple Beth El
with Victoria Zhizhimskaya
of Kishinev.
Victoria is the daughter of
Iosif and Raya Zhizhimsky.
A mechanic, Iosif Zhizimsky
has been unable to find work
in his trade since applying
for an exit visa. While Soviet
authorities have given no
reason for refusing him
permission to emigrate, the
family believes it may be
connected with his army
service or past employment.
