Israelis Report
New Medication
Jerusalem (JTA) - Scien-
tists at Bar-Ilan University
have rpeorted finding a
medication to treat
Alzheimer's disease, a
degenerative condition that
affects middle-age and elder-
ly people, and is usually
manifested by loss of memory.
Yediot Achronot reported
Monday that a team of scien-
tists, led by Professor Shlomo
Eliahu, developed a medica-
tion
tion that reverses memory
loss in patients with
Alzheimer's.
The scientists said they
tested it successfully on
humans, but it needs further
development before being ap-
proved for mass production,
the newspaper reported.
New TPA Drug
Saves 2 Lives
Tel Aviv — Through the in-
jection of the revolutionary
blood-clot-dissolving drug
TPA, a cardiac rescue team of
Magen David Adorn, Israel's
emergency medical service,
resuscitated two heart attack
victims who were near death,
in two unrelated incidents on
the same day last month.
According to Dr. Robert L.
Sadoff, president of the
American Red Magen David
for Israel, "TPA is a new and
expensive drug considered to
be the "last word" in saving
the lives of heart attack vic-
tims. It is our goal to make
sure that the people of Israel
are provided with this and
every other necessary tool for
saving lives.
'Days Of Rage'

Jerusalem — The B'nai
B'rith World Center spon-
sored the first Israeli screen-
ing of the entire PBS program

responsibility and Israeli
vulnerability in the media
battlefield.
Panelists were NBC-TV cor-
respondent Ike Seamans; IDF
spokesman Col. Raanan
Gissin; Haaretz commentator
Dan Margalit; Israel Televi-
sion producer Michael Kar-
pin; and Alan Rosenthal,
director of a segment of the
PBS wraparound program.
