FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1989
first time with movie director
Alan (All the President's Men)
Pakula.
The crew of Presumed Inno-
cent has since left Detroit and
is in its last weeks of filming
in New York.Sklar was
unable to make the trip
because she is a member of
the International Alliance of
Theatrical Stage Employees,
Local 666, and is limited to
working in Detroit, Chicago,
Ohio, Florida and most of the
midwestern states.
She admitted she loves her
job free-lancing as a camera
assistant and looks forward to
working on more feature
films.
"I expect I'll still be a
camera assistant five years
down the line. I would love to
live in New York and con-
tinue free-lancing there —
that's where all the great
bagels are, anyway." ❑

film shot in Detroit that has
already been released in
Europe; and American Cops
II, an Italian movie, filmed a
week in Detroit, also not yet
released in the United States.
Sklar said of American
Cops II, "I had a great time
working on the film, but as a
professional experience, it
was a nightmare." No one
spoke English — the director,
cameramen — nobody. And
the camera equipment was
terrible.
"I was lucky with Presum-
ed Innocent," she continued.
"Gordon Willis, who was the
director of photography for
The Godfather I and II, Zelig,
The Money Pit and several
other films, was the film's DP.
He was an amazing director
of photography. And Harrison
Ford was so nice. He's very
soft-spoken."
