FOR WOMEN
THE MESSAGE BELOW WAS SENT TO THE
PRESIDENT, THE SECRETARY OF STATE AND
THE MICHIGAN CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION
On August 8, 1-989, Arafat's "own" Al Fatah, mainstream
branch of the PLO, issued an official policy statement calling
for:
Continued and escalated armed struggle
The return of Palestinian refugees to pre-1967 Israel
Rejection of Israel's election proposal
Escalation of Intifadah violence
Prevention of further. Jewish immigration to Israel
Music Is Planned
For JNF Women
The opening meeting for
the Women of Jewish Na-
tional Fund will be held noon
Tuesday at Temple
Emanu-El.
A musical program is
planned with violinist Sadie
Braver and pianist Rose
Morgan presenting "A
Musical Trip Around the
State Department spokeswoman, Margaret Tutwiler,
criticized Al Fatah for its "derogatory rhetoric on Israel, its
tone of confrontation and violence and its preference for
unrealistic principles and solutions instead of practical ideas
for peace . ." She added that the U.S. was questioning
whether the PLO was really committed to Arafat's December
promises.
It is time for the Congress to ask the Administration some
hard questions and to demand straight answers:
Why does the Administration continue its admittedly
fruitless discussions with the PLO in the face of so
many instances of the PLO's bad faith?
Is the Administration still considering issuing Arafat
a visa to the U.S. in view of his undeviating
commitment to terrorism.?
We call on the Administration to state unequivocally: No
Visa for Arafat, No more negotiations with the PLO.
Write the President,
Secretary Baker and your
Michigan Senators and
Congressmen today
