Fall Beauty Tips

Hand Care

Avoid wearing unlined gloves
because they induce sweating, which
irritates the skin.
After washing hands, apply a rich
cream and repeat throughout the day.
Too frequent washings age the skin
by robbing it of natural moisture.
While doing household chores,
always wear cotton-lined, not rubber,
gloves for protection.

Nail Care

Remove old polish with a cotton ball
and remover.
Be sure nails are dry before filing.
File in one direction only.
Gently push back cuticles with a dry
towel or orange stick.
Don't cut cuticles. Instead, use a
creamy cuticle remover to loosen excess
cuticles.
Apply a base coat and two coats of
your choice color over it. Wait a minute,
then apply top coat to seal enamel.

Hair Care

• For oily scalp:
Don't shampoo more than necessary.
Comb, rather than brush hair to avoid
overstimulation of the scalp.
Avoid scalp massages.
Eliminate blow dryers, curling irons
and hot rollers.
Cover hair with a tied scarf or straw
hat when in the sun.
Skip cream rinses and hair sprays.
• For dry scalp:
Be cautious and careful with hair col-
oring and permanents.
Avoid wigs and hairpieces that do not
let hair and scalp breathe.

Skin Care

To increase skin moisture, drink six to
eight glasses of water a day.
Use a creamy, milky skin cleanser
rather than soap.
Apply cleanser gently with cotton
balls, not tissues.
Follow these guidelines for safe at-
home facial steaming to help soften
skin:
1. Cleanse face, then moisturize.
2. Drape a towel over head and
shoulders directly over the bowl.
3. Keep face at least ten inches from
the water.
4. Steam for five minutes, coming up
for air every so often.
5. Blot face dry, then moisturize with
a rich cream.
6. Do this procedure twice a week.
