at Seiko. The watches are flight corn-
puters, yacht timers, world timers and
circular slide rules. They tell instant time
in 22 zones, give the climate, current
altitude, mathematical computations,
and will do practically any conversions
you can imagine, all for $495. Or you
can purchase your basic Seiko digital
for $70.
TIMEX: At Timex, a wardrobing con-
cept applies. "Our watches should be
treated as fashion accessories," explains
Judy Riley, a Timex designer. "And the
watches are distinctive enough that it
really takes no brains to put a look
together." That includes everything
from futuristic designs to retro looks.
They sell for $40 to $65.
SWATCH: Swatch takes the war-
drobing concept a step further. Each
season, they introduce a collection of
new watches based on the latest
fashion and lifestyle trends. This season
includes gold-toned caps and details,
endangered
species
imitation
wristbands, and black backdrops and
bright reflections. They sell for $35 to
$45. n
