W

hat avid golfer
wouldn't be excited?
. . . Harry Katz for
sure after 32 years of roughs
and traps . . . His daughter,
Robin Katz Orechkin, never
saw him so elated after his
hole-in-one at Indianwood
Country Club . . . Was on the
177-yard 17th hole using - a
five iron . . . playing with
Bert Hoffman, Ed Gruber and
Vince Cirieliano . . . Golf pro

Seligson in the Federation
Apartments . . . on his 100th
birthday . . . Invitation-only
party at Summit Clubhouse
is this Sunday by his two
sons, Leo Seligscin (Ruth), Joe
Barnes, and daughter Nettie
Gotlieb (Max) . . . Julius'
oldest granddaughter, Susan

Salvadore, where she works

Fighters, Sept. 16, at Novi
Hilton Hotel . . . Her number
is 258-5085.
"I SHOULD HAVE
brought some tongue
depressers," joked Dr. David
Jacknow, who, with wife
Muriel, hosted recent Les
Miserables cocktail party out-
doors at their home for
General Directors Circle of
Michigan Opera Theatre .. .
Folks lined up around the
delicious salmon mold . . .
waiting to use the one knife
spreader.
Dave says he had a talk
with the powers that be to
make sure the weather would
be nice . . . His "pull" work-
ed because it was a beautiful
night for the gracious and
charitable people who attend-
ed, munched on goodies made
French style al la Les
Miserables' Paris.
Party was around the
Jacknow pool, with David,
MOT Director David Dichiera
and Shelly Cooper, chair-
lassie of the General Direc-
tors Circle on the deck for a
few words to the leisured folks
. . . followed by songsters do-
ing tunes from Les Miz . . . It
opens 1989-90 MOT opera
season tonight at Fisher
Theatre.
Whatever pipeline David
and Muriel have to get great
weather, a lot of other groups
would sure like to get in their
good graces.

Always good to see Dr.
Charles and Jo Kessler, Lor-
raine and Arthur Schultz,
Beryl Winkelman, Mort and
Mary Lou Zieve, John Bloom,
Shelly and Peter Cooper,
David and Karen DiChiera,
Marvin and Barbara Frenkel,
Frank and Stephanie Ger-
mack, Frank and Phyllis
Marra, David and Blanche
Pollach, Bob and Maggie

others.

EVER HEAR OF an ex-
hibition strictly on ceramic
teapots? . . . Neither did I, but
there seems to be so many
that a 29-day exhibition
by American and Canadian
artists is set to begin tomor-
row, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at
Swidler Gallery in Royal Oak
. . . Swidler is right around
the corner from Les Auteurs
and Metropolitan Musicafe
. . . in the skylit lobby of
elegantly refurbished Wash-
ington Square Plaza.

should follow . . . Non-profit
groups are given the oppor-
tunity of setting up shop in
the mall for three days to
raise funds.

CALLING BOBBY
ADELL . . . Remember way
back when, if you never
before were a believer in fate,
you certainly became one
after returning to Detroit
from California? . . . You had
an airplane ticket leaving the
coast, but had to suddenly
change your plans and leave
the day before . . . You never
perspired more than you did
upn learniing that the air-
craft you couldn't take .. .
crashed in Utah, killing 52
persons .. .
CONGRATS to Sol and
