Ahhhhh!!
the Kids are back
in school.
your way in and spend hours
searching the shelves, hope-
fully finding a book here or
there which is actually on one
of the lists you are grasping.
The other type has every-
thing really well organized.
They only allow in as many
customers as they have assis-
tants. Each person is assigned
someone who calmly takes all
your lists (and your problems)
and goes off in search of your
books.
The latter system sounds
perfect. Of course, the snag is
that you can wait for up to
three hours in the line out-
side the shop, only to discover
when you finally get inside
that they have but one of the
35 books you need.
Gradually, as the holidays
draw to their close, the
booklists get tackier and
messier as they pass through
more and more hands. You've
been back to the same shops
12 times for those books that
were unobtainable on the
first 11 occasions. You've
returned the books your
children forgot to mention
they still had from the
previous year and exchanged
those the exhausted shop
assistant got wrong (well, no
one's perfect).
Now all that is left is to per-
suade my five school age chil-
dren to cover all these books
. . . and you wonder why I
don't have time to worry
about a school uniform!
Now's the time to not only have
your carpets cleaned but
have them cleaned right. The
Original Hagopian way.
