5 Blood Centers
To Open Sunday

The American Red Cross,
Southeastern Michigan Re-
gional Blood Services, will
open five blood donor centers
on Sunday in an effort to
bolster the community's
blood supply. The Ann Arbor,
Bloomfield, Livonia, Roseville
and Southgate centers will be
open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All Red Cross donor centers
will be open Saturday from
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Living With Cancer
Subject Of Meeting

A Focus on Living (with
cancer) meeting will be held
7 p.m. Sept. 5, at Providence
Hospital.
This self-help group brings
together patients and family
members who have questions
or are experiencing problems
as a result of living with
cancer.

Rabbi's Kin
Plan Reunion

New York (JTA) — More
than 150 years after his
death, the descendants of
Rabbi Akiba Eger are
organizing a worldwide get-
together for relatives, who are
presently dispersed over six
continents and are estimated
to number in the thousands.
Eger, who lived from 1761
to 1837, is considered one of
the greatest halachic
authorities of modern times.
He served as chief rabbi of the
Polish province of Posen and
had of a rabbinical academy
that attracted students from
all parts of Europe.
The planned assembly of
descendants will take place at
Tel Aviv University on June
25, 1990, and will provide the
opportunity for relatives, long
separated, to meet again or
for the first time.
