The Jewish Community of Detroit, Your Family and Friends Extend Their Best Wishes our contem e ro m secialis 1 EDUCATION Institute Offers Teen Program The Jewish Parents In- stitute, an affiliate of the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit, will of- fer students entering the eighth grade a discussion and project-oriented curriculum stressing Jewish ethics as highlighted by events in modern Jewish history. Students will have the op- portunity to explore the Jewish response to events in history and to current events. Social action projects will be part of the curriculum, which will be taught by Ellen Reina, the institute's b'nai mitzvah teacher. All eighth grade students are invited to join the Then Club, along with students in ninth grade and all teens who have graduated from the program. Lunch And Learn Series Is Set The Midrasha College of Jewish Studies will present a series of five lectures in its "Lunch and Learn Series!' The lectures will be given by Rabbi Bruce Aft, director of the Midrasha-College of Jewish Studies and principal of the Community Jewish High School. The first lecture will be held Sept. 13, and is entitled, "Rosh Hashana in the Midrash; the Akedah — A Study of Faith." On Sept. 27, the topic will be, "The Power of Confession: A Spiritual Guide for Yom Kippur," and on Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13, Rabbi Aft will discuss the topic, "Living Ethically in the Modern World?'
