"Selected Readings from
Talmudic Literature," is being
offered for 2.5 credits toward
the Midrasha-College of
Jewish Studies master of
Hebrew literature. The
master's degree program is of-
fered in cooperation with the
kllanfrouro College. In this
course, Rabbi Rod Glogower,
rabbi of the Hillel Orthodox
Union and adjunct lecturer in
Judaic studies, University of
Michigan, will explore the
Talmud through close textual
study. Topics to be covered in-
clude the holidays, prayer,
matters of civil law and
capital punishment. The
course will meet on Tuesdays,
Sept. 12 to Oct. 31, 9:30 a.m.
to noon.
All courses meet in the
United Hebrew Schools Sig-
mund and Sophie Rohlik
Building and are open to the
public. All courses are also
open to students who do not
wish to receive Midrasha

Adat Shalom Youth
Programs Expanded
The
Adat
Shalom
Synagogue youth department
has a new and expanded
education program for its
high school youth.
Students will meet for Nosh
'n Drash 6:20 p.m. Mondays.
A light dinner and social pro-
gram will be followed by two
hours of Jewish education for
9th through 12th graders.
Rabbis Efry Spectre and
Elliot Pachter, Youth Director
Miriam Starkman and Mat
Shalom United Synagogue
Youth Adviser Marc Kay will
head the teaching staff.
Three different programs
will make up the education
format, which will begin each
week at 7 p.m. and at 8 p.m.
Ninth and 10th graders will
participate in mekhinah, a
curriculum focusing on com-
munity and responsibility in
Jewish tradition.
A confirmation program is
offered for 10th through 12th
graders. This intensive
seminar, dealing with
sophisticated Jewish con-
cepts, will culminate in a con-
firmation service on the se-
cond morning of Shavuot.
