Neo-Nazi Must
Stand Thal
Bonn — The Constitutional
Court has ruled that neo-Nazi
activist Michael Kuehnen
must stand trial for running
an ilegal organization.
The decision, which could
set a precedent, concerned the
Action Front National
Socialist, which Kuehnen
continued to run in 1983
although it was banned as an
extremist group. He challeng-
ed the ban, and a court in
Hamburg ruled last year that
he could not be prosecuted as
long as a decision on the
nature of his group was
pending.
The Karlsruhe court, which
is the highest in West Ger-
many, overruled the Ham-
burg decision. It stated that
the rights of freedom of
organization and expression
do not apply to groups that
preach opposition to the
democratic constitutional
system.

MCI Allegedly
Discriminated
New York — In a complaint
filed with the U.S. Equal
Employment Opportunity
Commission in New York, the
American jewish Congress
has charged MCI Telecom-
munications with practicing
discrimination when in
rescinded a job offer to an Or-
thodox Jewish woman.
After several interviews,
the woman was offered a job
with MCI in New York City.
Upon learning that her
religious obligations would
compel her to leave early on
some Fridays in order to
observe the Sabbath, MCI
retracted the job offer. The
woman had informed the
employment agency that
referred her to the company
that it would be necessary for
her to leave early on some
Fridays during the fall and
winter to observe the Sab-
bath, which begins at
sundown.
