EAT HEARTY RECIPE SUBSTITUTIONS
You probably have quite a few favorite recipes that may not fit into a
heart-healthy diet program. Well, thanlcs to the American Heart Associa-
tion Low-fat, Low-cholesterol cookbook, here are some more substitu-
-tions that may help you to salvage some of your favorite recipes.
•Use evaporated skim milk for cream when making whipped topping.
(Be aware that the evaporated milk won't whip unless it's chilled first.)
•Substitute plain lowfat or nonfat yogurt for sour cream in baking
recipies.
•Substitute plain lowfat or nonfat yogurt for sour cream in sauces. Mix
1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of yogurt and mix into the
yogurt. It will prevent the yogurt from separating.
•Add a drop of lemon juice to the water you cook pasta in and eliminate
the salt.
