In 1975, Dwight was
commissioned by the NAACP
to do a bust of the nation's
first black lieutenant gover-
nor, Colorado's George Brown.
During the 1980s, he
accepted numerous commis-
sions for commemorative
sculptures, including the
10-foot bronze statues of
Frederick Douglass, Henry
(Hank) Aaron and Martin
Luther King Jr.
As the
commercial
marketplace opens to his
work, Dwight and his staff of
10 work 20-hour days to
produce and exhibit his work.
More than 250 different
molds are used to create the
various pieces, and each one
is original.
