he jumped off the stage and
into the director's chair in
1951, leaving acting
permanently.
He was a director for the
----=' Los Angeles and San Fran-
cisco City-Wide Operas for 11
years and also directed the
first four shows for the
Richard Rodgers Music
Theater of Lincoln Center in
New York. He brought three
of them, Merry Widow,
Carousel and Kismet, to the
Fisher Theater in Detroit in
the 1960s.
Greenberg said he enjoys
working with the talents of
Worley and Hayes and is ex-
cited to introduce 10-year-old
Danielle Findley to the
Detroit theatergoers.
"We have a wonderful little
[ girl playing Annie," he said of
the young Findley. "She audi-
tioned for me in New York
last May and recently played
Annie in her hometown, Kan-
sas City."
Next week's stop at
Meadow Brook marks
Greenberg's first visit to
Detroit since the 1960s. "I'm
looking forward to going up
there," he said.
Unlike many adults who
usually retire at his age, the
65-year-old Greenberg has
made no such plans.
When asked if he'd like to
continue directing and pro-
ducing for several more years,
Greenberg laughed and
answered, "Sure, why
not?" 0

Show Planned

Meadow Brook's Laser
Light Spectaculars will
feature the "1812 Overture"
with real cannon-fire 8:30
p.m. today and Saturday.
Full-color laser beams will
bounce around the outdoor
pavilion and over the lawn
while the laser projects
animated graphics onto a
screen over the stage.
