ROSH HASHANAH GREETINGS PICK ... THE GREETING OF YOUR CHOICE four and in her sixth season in the league, has been athletic since about age 9, when she played two-hand- touch football. A league bowler in the winter, the West Bloomfield resident enjoys "getting out a little bit, getting exercise" in the summer. But she counts on a team effort — "I'm get- ting a little older, so I don't run as fast." Esther Bogorad of Oak Park, 67, a four-year league veteran, took up softball as a way of getting over her hus- band's death. Playing the game "is good when you are emotionally upset or stress- ed," she said. In earlier years, the mother of four would "go play ball with the kids at company pic- nics until they asked me to stop — they were embar- rassed." A catcher and right fielder on the team, Bogorad gave up pitching due to back pro- blems. She's been in sports "all my life. I love sports." But she believes tennis would be too strenuous for her now. Bronstein, 59, of Oak Park, has been in the senior league eight seasons. "I played soft- ball as a teen, then gave it up at age 18. When I was in my 40s, somebody asked me if I wanted to play. I took the plunge and have been playing ever since — and loving it." Pitcher Bronstein, who had a 3-3 record going into the final game, is joined by hus- band Marty, a catcher/right fielder, on the team. All four of their sons play softball. She enjoys the mixed league more than playing in a women's league because "it's a lot more fun and exercise and not so competitive." When it comes to sports, she said softball is her favorite. "Golf is too slow a game." 0 Best wishes for a happy, healthy New Year. — NAME — #1 May the coming year be filled $15.00 with health and \anon ron run happiness for to all our friends and relatives. all our family and friends. — NAME — #2 — NAME — $26.50 $37.75 #3 We wish our family and friends a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. — NAME — #4 $26.50 These are samples of the personal greetings being offered.
