Formerly of Huntington i Voods, Mr. Wallace was harter president of New Horizons of Oakland County. *hen he moved to Houston, he became president of Vita- Living Inc., which operates a small group of homes for men- tally retarded adults. Mr. Wallace retired in 1988 from Pan Handle Corp. in Houston, where he was vice president of corporate corn- munications. He was a past president of Congregation Brith Shalom of Houston. He was actively involved in professional organizations, in- cluding the Communications Committee of the American Gas Association and the In- terstate Natural Gas Associa- tion of America. He also was on the board of directors of the Public Relations Society of America. A graduate of the Universi- ty of Michigan, Wallace was also a past president of the Houston chapter of the University of Michigan Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife, Renee; four children, Melanie, Lee David, Andrew and Ar- nold; two brothers, Marshall and Arnold; and two grand- children. Dr. Ben J. Katz Max Katz cj Dr. Ben J. Katz, a dentist active in his profession, died on Aug. 20. He was 74. His brother, Max L. Katz, who owned a dental lab, died Aug. 16. He was 72. Dr. Katz, a resident of West Bloomfield, was a member of Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses, American and Wayne County Dental Associations, Detroit District Dental Society, Great Lakes Yacht Club and the Jewish Community Center. Dr. Katz was a graduate of Wayne State University and the University of Michigan Dental School. Dr. Katz is survived by his wife, Maybell; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Jill of Oregon and Dr. Alan and Susan of California; a sister and brother-in-law Sylvia and Marshall Brenner of West Bloomfield; and seven grandchildren. Max Katz, a member of the Downtown Synagogue, was a resident of Troy. He leaves his wife, Beatrice; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Marshall and Karen of West Bloom- field; a daughter and son-in- law, Elisa and Dr. Donald Dreyfuss of Bloomfield Hills; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Ben and May of West Bloomfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Marshall Brenner of West Bloomfield. Dorothy Shaye Dorothy Shaye, a Jewish community activist, died Aug. 21. She was 76. A resident of Franklin, Mrs. Shaye was involved in many Jewish groups, including the Jewish Social Service Bureau, Hadassah, Women's American ORT, National Council of Jewish Women, Jewish National Fund and the Ibrch Drive. She was also a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek and Franklin Hills Country Club. She is survived by her hus- band, Max; a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Eva Shaye of Beverly Hills, Calif.; a daughter and son-in- law Linda and Clayton Landey of California; and three grandchildren. David Colman David Colman, a former Detroiter who practiced law here for nearly 60 years, died Aug. 11 in Santa Monica, Calif., where he lived for the past year. Mr. Colman was 88. Mr. Colman was a life member of Perfection Lodge, a Masonic order. He served as master of the lodge in the 1940s. He was also a long-time member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
