THE CADILLAC FAMILY BB Bowling Goes On TV The history of B'nai B'rith Bowling in metro Detroit is the topic of a new television piogram on Continental and Metrovision cable systems. "B'nai B'rith Bowling — On A Roll" features Seymour Zate, Jerry Corlin, Mark Sperling and Al Brook in the first show. Zate says it may be expanded into a monthly series. The show will be aired on Continental *Ch. 18 at 7:35 p.m. Monday and Aug. 31 and at 8:05 p.m. on, Aug. 25. Metrovision Ch. 12 - is scheduled to carry it at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Sept. 1. Zate is vice president of the Metro Detroit B'nai B'rith Bowling Association and • a board member of the organization's International Bowling Association; Corlin is president of the Greater Detroit B'nai B'rith Council; Sperling is executive secretary of both the Metro and International associa- tions and Brook is a past president of both. Area Gains Bowling Champ IN STAFF REPORT hen it comes to jun- ior bowlers, Mount Pleasant's loss is Southfield's gain. . Joshua Lessin, 16, moved to Southfield from the central Michigan city in June after becoming state co-champion of the Young Americans Bowling Alliance Division C mixed doubles. He and partner Tonya Munro of Oil City, near Mount Pleasant, rolled a com- bined score of 1,381 in the Michigan State YABA tour- nament in mid-May at Grand Rapids to earn the title. The pair received their plaques at ceremonies in Lansing in July. The YABA is the governing body of junior bowling in the United States. -. Joshua said his father Bar- ton taught him to bowl when he was 9 years old. The senior Lessin is an assistant dean at Wayne State University. In Mount Pleasant, Joshua bowled in a Saturday junior league and averaged at least one bowling day a week year- around. He hasn't yet selected an area bowling alley. "When we won the title, I just went out there and had fun. I wasn't trying to win, like some people do," he said. 'Microwave' Leads Adults Vinnie "Microwave" Johnson of the National Basketball Association world champion Detroit Pistons will lead an adult basketball camp, 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Maple/Drake Jewish Community Center. The program is open to the public. There is a registration fee, proceeds frbm which will benefit the Center's youth basketball programs.
