and whatever else he could
manage.
Now Scott has found a bet-
ter way . . . As general
manager for Hebrew Na-
tional's Foodservice Division,
he recently launched a com-
plete line of traditional New
York kosher delicatessen pro-
ducts into the Detroit market.
After 85 years, Hebrew Na-
tional is under its third
generation of family owner-
ship . . . It was founded in
1905 and is run by Isadore
"Skip" Pines, the founder's
grandson . . . Except for a
brief period in the 1970s
when Hebrew National was
owned outside the Pines
Family, which later bought
the company back, it has re-
mained intimately involved
with the business.
Its Detroit line will include
kosher all-beef frankfurters
and knockwurst, salami and
bologna, New York-style
kosher corned beef, pastrami
and tongue and all-natural
turkey breast.
Hebrew National is also in-
troducing supermarket items
including chub packages of
salami and bologna, packages
of 12-ounce frankfurters, a
full line of New York deli-
style pickles, including half-
sours and garlic pickles .. .
plus tomatoes, fillet peppers,
new kraut and cucumber
salad.
The products are distrib-
uted exclusively in Detroit
through Lefkofsky &
Company.

POLO IN THE CITY? .
Why not? ... Southfield Gold.
Cup Polo Match is Aug. 19 at
open field at northeast corner
of Civic Center Drive and
Northwestern Highway . .
Quite novel in the heart of.
town, but will provide horse
and polo enthusiasts an op-
portunity to see a p.olo match
close to home . . . A standard
polo field is about the size of
nine football fields, with
24-foot wide goals at each end
. . . Admission is $5 in ad-
vance or $6 at gate.
1989/90 SEASON of
Michigan Opera Theatre has
a big launching with its "The
Great Gala" benefit preview
of Tony Award-winning
Broadway musical Les
Miserables at the Fisher
Theatre, Sept. 8 . "The
Great Gala" will be an even-
ing of pre-theater dining, Les
Miz and afterglow with the
cast.

TODAY'S WORLD DEPT.

plopping himself down and
saying to his wife, "I had a
tough time at the office today.
My computer broke down and
I had to think all day." 0
