Richard Stoltzman
clarinet recitals in the
histories of both the
Hollywood Bowl and
Carnegie Hall. In 1986, he
became the first wind player
to be awarded the Avery
Fisher Prize.
Stoltzman has appeared
twice at the Tokyo Music Joy
Festival and also made his
first visit to Australia as
"Artist of the Week" at the
last Adelaide Festival.
Back home, he opened the
second century season of the
Boston Pops with John
Williams and last February
had his third Carnegie Hall
recital with Woody Herman's
Thundering Herd.

Story Hours
Borders Book Shop in the
Novi Town Center will host
three story hour programs for
children with sign language
interpreter Kim Willett.
The programs will be 2 p.m.
Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m.
Aug. 26 and Sept. 23. The pro-
grams are free, but pre-
registration is required. For

Plays Oak Park
Kelly Lynn Garver and the
band Southbound will per-
form outdoors at Shepherd
Park 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Garver was Miss Michigan
1986 and the 3rd runner up
and talent winner in the Miss
America Pageant. Garver will
play on her electric fiddle
wild renditions of "New
Country" and "Orange
Blossom Special."
The concert is free. Bring
lawn chairs. If it rains, the
show will take place in the
Oak Park High School
auditorium.
