Morgenstern checks one of his teetertotters.

"He can bond with students
and their teachers. He can
create equipment, decide the
purpose of it, look at the stu-
dent's environment —
perhaps the home is very
small — and adapt the equip-
ment to the student's needs.
He periodically checks with
the students to find out their
progress. One of his major
skills is his ability to listen."
Morgenstern is the first to
dispel rumors that he's an in-
fallible craftsman. "Beyond
me is anything to do with
metal. I cannot solder two
pieces together, and that's the

easiest thing in the world for
most people."

While each woodworking
project may take anywhere
from five to ten hours,
Morgenstern says his hobby
interest keeps him busy
"seven days a week some
months, though other months
are slow."

A few people have sug-
gested that he try marketing
his low-cost designs. No sale,
says Morgenstern. "I just
wouldn't have the euphoric
feeling if I did this commer-
cially." 0

Back To The Future
For Adat Shalom Kids

Jessica Robins has plans for
a Sunday in July 2039. So do
Brian Shulman, Lindsey
Taub, and Stephanie
Shifman.
These four youngsters and
13 of their classmates at Adat
Shalom Nursery School were
invited to participate in the
Farmington Hills BiCenten-
nial Celebration of the Con-
stitution last Sunday.
As part of the patriotic
festivities, the children

helped to bury a time capsule
containing a variety of ar-
tifacts which reflect life in the
community in 1989.
Representing Adat Shalom,
the five-year-olds placed an
audio tape in the capsule. On
it are some of their favorite
Jewish songs, narrated by
Nursery School Director Dot-
tie Levitsky.
The 17 youngsters attended
a transitional kindergarten
class at the synagogue this
