Israel Mints Art Medal
Designed By Gross

New York — A new art
medal has been struck by
Israel, "Happy Children" and
"Happiness," designed by
Chaim Gross.
Gross came to the U.S. in
1921, and in 1963 he received
the Arts and Letters Award
from the New York Academy
of Arts and Letters, "for his
outstanding contributions to
American and universal

culture." In 1964, he became
a member of the National In-
stitute of Arts and Letters.
The "Happiness" medal
displays a flower design on its
face and dancing children on
the obverse. The sculptured
side is the artist's adaptation
of his noted work "Happy
Children," the original of
which is on permanent
display in the National Col-
