Symphony Orchestra at 8

pear in concerts featuring the

tritt Award in 1969. He has

Kalichstein's recordings of
the Schubert and Schumann
albums will soon be available
on the Audifon label. In addi-
tion, Kalichstein's compact
disc rcordings of the two
Mendelssohn concerti, have
already been released on the
Nimbus label.
As a member of the Kalich-
stein/Laredo/Robinson Trio,
he appears regularly in
chamber concerts in the coun-
try's major halls, including
Lincoln Center's Avery
Fisher Hall and the John F.
Kennedy Center for the Per-
forming Arts; major festivals
including Tanglewood, Ravi-
nia, Edinburgh, Hong Kong
and Mostly Mozart; and on
recordings.
Kalichstein has won the
Young Concert Artists' Audi-
tions and appeared with the
New York Philharmoinc in a
nationally-televised concert of
Beethoven's Fourth Concerto
at the invitation of Leonard
Bernstein. Born in Tel Aviv in
1946, Kalichstein immi-
grated to the United States in
1962. His principal teachers
included Joshua Shor, Ed-
ward Steuermann, and Ilona
Kabos at the Juilliard School.
He has appeared with
nearly every major American
and European orchestra.
