Starting with the early years of the 1920s, he was an organizing force in what was then referred to as "the masses." They were the Yid- dish cultural forces who welcomed immigrants and helped them establish themselves via loans to start businesseswhile encouraging schools for the children. Mr. Finkelstein was graduated from the Detroit College of Law in 1923 and practiced law until his retire- ment in 1955. He was the first president of the Sholem Aleichem Institute and its first honorary life president. He was active in landsman- shaften organizations, a former board member of the Jewish Community Council and a former editor of The Jewish Daily Forward. Mr. Finkelstein also was a lec- turer of note. He leaves a son, Dr. Lionel; a daughter, Lillian Gold; a sister, Shifra Becher of Israel; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services noon today at Ira Kaufman Chapel. B. Robinson, presi- dent and founder of Artours, Inc., died July 5 at age 62. - A native Detroiter, she was secretary of Friendly Ark Recretion Corp. from 1985 un- til her death. She previously was a director of public rela- tions/marketing for the Michigan Opera Theatre and diector of community rela- tions for the Detroit Institute of Arts, Theatre Arts Youtheatre. Her communal affiliations included Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Public Library, Cranbrook Art Academy, Michigan Cancer Foundation, Kenney-Michigan Rehabilita- tion Foundation, Oakland County Cultural Council, Oakland University, Women's Investment Study Group, Meadow Brook Art Gallery, American Artists, Southfield Arts Council, Metropolitan Detroit Volunteer Network, Oakland County Citizens League, Birmingham League of Women Voters. Mrs. Robinson was a speaker at museum con- ferences and a consultant to art museums. Her other af- filiations included American Indian Association, Detroit Artist Market, Detroit Focus Gallery, Birmingham- Bloomfield Art Association, International Visitors Coun- cil, Pewabic Pottery, Detroit Historical Society, Friends of Sibley House and Temple Shir Shalom. Professionally, she was a member of the Public Rela- tions Society of America and Detroit Press Club. Mrs. Robinson leaves her husband, Roger; a son, Richard of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Karen of Denver; and three grandchildren. In- terment Denver. M. Stewart Maurice "Maury" Stewart, founder and president of Stewart Oxygen Service, died July 10 at age 74. Mr. Stewart was a graduate of the Wayne State Universi- ty College of Pharmacy. He founded his firm in 1964. He was a past president and board member of Temple Israel's Brotherhood and co- chairman of the temple's ritual committee. He was a past vice president of the Na- tional Federation of Temple Brotherhoods and a member of Perfection Lodge of the Masons. He leaves his wife, Eve; two sons, Loren (Larry) of Scotland and Jeffrey; a daughter, Susan; a sister, Mrs. Edna Skolnick; and seven grandchildren. Sylvia Glantz Sylvia Glantz, an active member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek, died July 8. Mrs. Glantz was active in plays and amateur musicals at the synagogue and with Hadassah. She was a life member of Hadassah. She leaves her husband, Gabriel of West Bloomfield; two sons, Leonard of Southfield and Steve of Sunrise, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Jerome (Arlene) Blum; her mother, Mrs. Clara Kleiman; a brother, Harvey Kleiman; a sister, Mrs. Roy (Sally) Rogow; and two grandchildren.
