Fox Theater
Shows 'Arabia'

The restored film classic
Lawrence of Arabia will be
shown in Detroit now through
July 16 at the Fox Theatre.
Originally released in 1962,
the film reveals the story of
T.E. Lawrence, the enigmatic
British hero of the Arab
revolt against Turkey during
World War I. Peter O'Toole,
who plays the title role,
became an international star
with the film's release. Star-
ring with him are Alec
Guiness, Anthony Quinn,
Jack Hawkins, Jose Ferrer,
Anthony Quayle, Claude
Rains, Arthur Kennedy and
Omar Sharif. It won seven
Academy Awards including
best picture and best director.
At the urging of world-
renown directors Steven
Spielberg and Martin
Scorsese, this project was
funded by Columbia Pictures
and was the most extensive,
complex and costly film pro-
ject undertaken to-date.
Showtimes have been
scheduled at 7:15 p.m.
Tuesdays through Saturdays
and 2 p.m. Sundays. For
general event information,
call the theater, 567-6000.
