Simms, a radiologist on staff at Henry Ford Hospital, died June 29 at age 48. A native Detroiter, Dr. Simms was graduated from Wayne State Unversity's medical school in 1966. He was chief of gastrointestinal radiology at Henry Ford Hospital and director of the radiology residency program at the hospital. He was cer- tified by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Simms was a member of the Michigan State Medical Society and served as a captain in the medical corps in Vietnam. He leaves his wife, Rhonda; four daughters, Candice, April, Erika and Rachael; his mother, Mrs. Irving (Adele) Simms; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Suzie) Katz and Barbara. Carl Shalit L Carl Shalit, president of the Film Exchange Building for Columbia Pictures in Detroit for 35 years, died July 1 at age 89. A former Detroiter of Bever- ly Hills, Calif., Mr. Shalit was active in the Fresh Air Socie- ty and a member of the Franklin Hills Country Club. He leaves his wife, Kay; a daughter, Mrs. Sidney (Leona) Shear of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Sonya Mellon of Southfield; four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Interment California. Milton Prag Milton L. Prag, an attorney, died June 30 at age 86. Born in Detroit, Mr. Prag was graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1928. Dr. L. Schreiber Dr. Leonard Schreiber, former department com- mander of the Jewish War Veterans, died July 2 at age 68. Born in New York City, Dr. Schreiber lived 43 years in Detroit. He served in the Ar- my during World War II. He was a member of Silverman Detroit Post of the JWV. Dr. Schreiber was department commander from 1968 to 1969. Adelaide Harris Adelaide K. Harris, a volunteer worker at Sinai Hospital, died July 2 at age 78. Born in Jersey City, N.J., Mrs. Harris lived 75 years in Detroit. She was a member of Temple Beth El, Franklin Hills Country Club, National Council of Jewish Women, TB and Health Society and Women's Volunteer Army Corps. She was a former Cen- tral High School beauty queen. Police Chief Dies At 42 Jerusalem (JTA) — Yosef Yehudai, the Jerusalem chief of police, died suddenly of a heart attack at is home last weekend. He was 42. Considered one of the most promising young police of- ficers in Israel, Yehudai was spoken of as a possible can- didate for the office of na- tional police inspector- general within the next 10 years. His tenure in Jerusalem in- cluded the 18 months of the Palestinian uprising, which frequently spilled over into Arab East Jerusalem. Yehudai was credited with keeping the capital relative- ly calm compared to the West Bank and Gaza Strip. During the coming week Yeshiva Beth Yehudah will observe the yahrzeits of the following departed friends, with the traditional memorial prayers, recitation of kaddish and studying of mishnayos.
