Milton Barkman
Milton B. Barkman, owner
and operator of Flint
Upholstering, died June 27 at
age 78.
Born in East Tawas, Mich.,
Mr. Barkman moved to Flint
in 1967. He was a member of
Congregation Beth Israel,
Elf-Khurafeh Shrine Temple,
Downtown Flint Lions Club,
Flint Toastmasters Club.
He is survived by his wife,
Sophie; two daughters, Mrs.
Leonard (Judy) Poger of
Westland and Mrs. Dennis
(Deborah) Campbell of
Frankfort, Mich.; a son,
David of Massachusetts; two
sisters, two brothers, nine
grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
Lily Gottfurcht
Lily Gottfurcht, a member
of Jewish women's organiza-
tions, died July 1.
Born in Poland, Mrs. Gott-
furcht lived more than 70
years in Detroit. She was a
member of Temple Beth El,
Hadassah, volunteered for
the American Red Cross and
was active in the Jewish
Welfare Federation.
She leaves two daughters,
Judith Meyers and Naomi
Meyers of Houston, Texas; a
son, James of California; a
sister, Mrs. Oscar (Anne)
Altshuler of Youngstown,
Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Rose Shoshana Pfeifer, a
teacher at the Agency for
Jewish Education/United
Hebrew Schools, died July 3
at age 77.
Born in Poland, Mrs. Pfeifer
lived 66 years in Detroit. She
was a long-time member of
the Alumni of the UHS and
Mizrachi.
She is survived by two
daughters, Delores Lasser
rand Mrs. Steven (Shirley)
Sarason; five grandchildren
and one great-grandson.
