The Michigan Guild of Ar-
tists and Artisans will pre-
sent the 19th annual summer
art fair, July 19-22 in
downtown Ann Arbor. The
Summer Art Fair hours will
be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 19-21
and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 22.
The Michigan Guild's festival
features 540 juried artists,
from 34 states.
The summer art fair is the
largest of the three fairs that
comprise the "Ann Arbor Art
Fair."
The fair showcases a vast
array of items that feature
everything from handmade
paper, furniture, toys and
glass, to a selection of hand-
crafted pottery.
The Ann Arbor Transporta-
tion Authority (AATA) pro-
vides the art fair shuttle.
Visitors can park at Briar-
wood Mall or Pioneer High
School and ride the bus
directly to the fair. AATA also
provides "The Circulator,"
which takes visitors from one
fair site to another free of
charge with the purchase of a
round-trip shuffle ticket.

Artists Win
Honoraria

Artists Lincoln Eddy and
Robert Bielat were awarded
honoraria from the Arts
Foundation of Michigan.
The artists, chosen by
Detroit Focus Gallery, will

have their work displayed in
an exhibit, "From Artists
Studios/Current Work" now
through July 28 at the
gallery, 743 Beaubien,
Detroit (closed July 1-4).
Eddy is head of the wood-
working department at Cran-
brook Academy of Art. Bielat
has served as a metals in-
structor at Macomb County
Community College.
A reception to meet the ar-
tists will take place July 7 at
7:30 p.m. at the Detroit Focus
Gallery. The public is invited.
Regular gallery hours are
noon-6 p.m. Wednesday
through Saturday.

Xochipilli Has
One-Man Show

Xochipilli Gallery, 568 N.
Woodward, Birmingham, has
opened an exhibit of pain-
tings and sculpture by Dewey
Blocksma. A trained physi-
cian who turned to a full-time
career as an artist 10 years
ago, Blocksma is being
featured in his third solo
show at Xochipilli Gallery.
Blocksma's work includes
mixed-media sculpture and
oil paintings.
Blocksma has exhibited ex-
tensively in the United States
and continues to write
children's books when not
making art. His Xochipilli ex-
hibit will continue through
July 15. Gallery hours are:
Tuesday through Saturday,
11 a.m. - 5 p.m. The public is
invited free of charge.
