She was an avid swimmer. She attended Oak Park adult education classes and took courses at Wayne State University. She was a member of Hadassah. Mrs. Hurwitz is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Murray (Roslyn) Vinnik of East Lan- sing, Mrs. Alvin (Genevieve) Asher of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Joseph (Baylee) Shulman; three brothers, Dr. Hyman Barahal of Brightwaters, N.Y., Max Barahal and Dr. George Barahal; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Palmer, Mrs. William (Pauline) Schwartz and Mrs. Samuel (Doris) Tron; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dorothy Dann Dorothy B. Dann, who did marketing and research for the Gallup Organization, died June 20 at age 91. Born in Canton, Ohio, Mrs. Dann lived in Detroit since 1917. She was a 50-year member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek and a life member of its sisterhood. She was a former board member of Hadassah, a member of United Hebrew Schools and the Jewish Welfare Federation. She leaves two sons, Alvin and Michael, both of New York; and a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Barbara) Berry; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Greene and Sadie Bobrof, both of Canton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. LOUIS TOMARKEN,76, former Detroiter of Palm Beach, Fla., died June 22. He leaves his wife, Phyllis; three sons, Dr. Andrew of Madison, Wis., Sherwin Marks of Framingham, Mass., and Paul Marks; a daughter, Jill of New York; a sister, Mrs. George (Sarah) Wolk of Deer- field Beach, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Sarah Hurwitz Sarah Hurwitz, an organizer of the American Harry Madison Harry Madison, a scrap metal dealer, died June 25 at age 87. A native Detroiter, Mr. Madison was a charter member of Temple Israel, past national commander of the Jewish War Veterans, past master of Craftsman Lodge of the Masons, a member of the Hannah Schloss Old Timers, a board member for more than 30 years of the Jewish Welfare Federation. He leaves his wife, Tillie; two sons, David and Marshall of Kalamazoo; 13 grand- children and 10 great-grandchildren.
