DEBORAH WALLER PAUL WEISS BONNIE CHAR JASON RICE North Farmington High School Berkley High School North Farmington High School Andover High School Eidelman plans to attend the University of Michigan in the fall, where she hopes to be a member of the marching band. She was Berkley's nominee for the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens award this year, and winner of the League of Jewish Women's Organizations Award. At Berkley, she is a drum major in the marching band, and is first chair oboe in the or- chestra. Waller will be attending Brandeis University in the fall, studying psychology, law and Spanish. She has re- ceived a scholarship from the Detroit Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. This year she served as president of Shira BBG and is a member of the North Farmington High School Nor- thern Chorale and Starlettes. She is ranked first in her class. Weiss will attend the University of Michigan, and plans to study medicine and become a surgeon. Because of his great interest in math and science, Weiss has par- ticipated in the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium and in chemistry and math competitions. Last year, he received the Bausch and Lomb honorary science award. He is also the reci- pient of a U-M Regents Alum- ni scholarship. Char plans to attend the University of Michigan, studying either business or law. She is a three-year member of the National Honor Society, vice president of the junior and senior classes and has been recog- nized by the Detroit Associa- tion of Phi Beta Kappa. She is also a member of the North Farmington pom-pon squad and a Temple Israel High School graduate. Rice is enrolled at the University of Michigan and plans to study law. At An- dover, he has been on the wrestling team for four years and has received a varsity let- ter. He is a member of the Na- tional Honor Society and a leader of the Care and Share Club. He has received the Oakland County Youth and Guidance Service Award for his community service work with Oakland Family Ser- vices and Pontiac Lighthouse. RAFAEL MORDECHAI WAYNTRAUB WENDY RICHMAN Yeshiva Gedolah of Greater Detroit Richman will study literature, science, and the arts at the University of Michigan. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa, and nominee for the U-M Regents Alumni Scholarship. Richman is also winner of the Foreign Language Competition and has been recognized by the West Bloomfield Optimist Club. She has played varsity tennis and junior varsity softball. OREN TRAUB MICHAEL WEISS North Farmington High School West Bloomfield High School Traub plans to attend the University of Michigan, ma- joring in pre-medicine. He is president of the National Honor Society, a member of student council, and a graduate of the Community Jewish High School. He is also a National Merit Scholar,1 Phi Beta Kappa, and has received the U-M Regents Alumni Award. Traub is the first student from south- eastern Michigan to win the Coca-Cola Scholar award. Weiss will be pursuing a double major next fall at the University of Michigan, stu- dying both engineering and literature. He is the Michigan Math Prize Competition Bronze Award Winner this year, a National Merit Scholarship winner, and reci- pient of a U-M Regents Alum- ni Scholarship. Weiss took first place in the Greater Detroit Interfaith Roundtable Essay Contest and has won numerous writing contests. She has received the Michigan State Scholarship for Academic Excellence Award, the Northwestern Ap- propriated Grant and the league of Jewish Women's Organizations Youth Award. Rubin will study engineer- ing and law at the Universi- ty of Michigan. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Beta Kap- pa, the International Thes- pian Society and is West Bloomfield High School representative for the U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship. She is active in student government and drama. Liberman's college plans are undecided but he plans to continue Hebraic studies in Israel. He is Phi Beta Kappa, a Michigan Competitive Scholarship qualifier and en- joys Talmud study, reading and basketball. Francisco will study music at the University of Michigan. She is co- valedictorian at Berkley and has received a Robert C. Byrd Scholarship, and a scholar- ship in recital performance from the Birmingham Musicale. She is captain of the girls' swim team. She plays piano, violin, cello and sings. Chupak plans to study engineering at the Universi- ty of Michigan. He received the bronze award as a 10th grader in the Michigan Mathematics competition, the silver award in his junior year and the gold award this year. Chupak received a U-M Regents Scholarship, and a scholarship award from the Engineering DOV NATHANIEL CHELST Akiva Hebrew Day School Chelst, a student at Karen B'Yavneh in Israel this year, is a 1989 National Merit Finalist, recipient of the Robert C. Byrd Honor Scholarship, the Yeshiva University Max Stern Scholars Award, and Silver Award winner of the 1988 Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition. He is layout editor of the yearbook, holds a black belt in karate, and plays piano and guitar. His college plans are undecided. Wayntraub will be attend- ing Wayne State University in the fall on a four-year tui- tion scholarship, majoring in engineering. He is Phi Beta Kappa, class valedictorian, and a Michigan Competitive Scholarship qualifier. His in- terests include electronics, music, and participatory sports.
