Romance is chic once more.
Classic cocktails.
Luxurious cuisine.
Sensuous swirling rhythms.
Memories are made of this.

the workings of a good solid
retaurant.
It is a well-rounded menu,
too . . . highly diversified yet
not overbearingly loaded with
items that sound good but are
never ordered . . . 20 ap-
petizers, eight salads, 18
Greek specialties, 20 sea-
foods, 13 broiler features.
Sure a few Italian dishes
snuck in . . . like veal
parmesan, chicken parmesan
and spaghetti and meatballs
. . . Even a Cajun-style breast
of chicken.
But mind you well, my
friends, this is definitely a
Greek restaurant . . . one that
is worty of receiving much
praise.

And there's also another
highly acceptable feature .. .
It's called "Luncheon or Lite
Dinners" . . . Items the same
size in quantity but without
soup and salad are around $2
lower in price.
Yes, the original Dimitri's of
Southfield, known as "Greek-
town Of The North," is back
. . . when Dimitri "Jimmy"
Syros closed the doors of his
270-seater in 1987, few, if any,
dreamed he would return to
open again.
From the moment a valet
takes your car or you choose
to park it yourself, to the time
of departure, it is safe to say
that a very satisfactory din-
ing experience will have been
received.
Remember
. . .
the
restaurant game seldom gives
second chances with same
ownership . . . Dimitri Syros
has been handed another
time around . . . a new lease
on life . . . He's too smart .. .
too good a restaurateur not to
take advantage of it . . . His
former employees wouldn't
have flocked back if they
didn't think so too.
ABOUT 260 GUESTS at-
tended the recent Opera Ball
by Michigan Opera Theatre
. . . In the Fox Theatre's
60-year history, there has
never been a dinner on the
stage until the Opera Ball .. .
The black-tie and formal-
gowned audience became the
entertainment, albeit with no
audience to watch them but
themselves.
Opera Ball attendees then
enjoyed dancing in the Grand
Lobby of the Fox with Mel
Ball and Colours an
11-member ensemble . . .
Headturner of the evening
was Soraya Golden's bumble
bee yellow and black silk
gown with fanned black train.
