Eligibility for the trip was 1989 enrollment in the Israel Bonds Golda Meir CLub, via a $5,000 or more investment in Israel Bond securities during a given year. The event realized $251,000 in Israel Bond purchases. B'nai David Sisterhood Cited For Israel Bonds Congregation B'nai David President Alex Blumenberg announced that a tribute uni- que to Israel Bond history in Metro Detroit will occur when the 200-plus member- ship of the B'nai David Sisterhood will be honored at the synagogue's annual Israel Bond dinner. The event, scheduled for 6 p.m. June 27 in the Southfield synagogue's social hall, will see the Sisterhood, past and present, praised in song and narration, and inscribed Israel Scrolls of Honor presented to all current sisterhood members. Also, the sisterhood will be the collec- tive recipient of the State of Israel's Tower of David Award. Chairing the dinner is Tillie Brandwine; Host Com- mittee chairmen are Irving Belinsky, Morris Brandwine and Mike Must. A pre-dinner leadership reception was held in the Far- mington Hills home of Eva and Gustav Berenholz, where commitments of more than $350,000 in Israel Bond securities were realized. The B'nai David Sisterhood was formed in 1933 for the purpose of sponsoring and maintaining a synagogue religious school. The Sisterhood later expanded its fund-raising activities to in- clude donor luncheons, ad books, tribute funds, a synagogue gift shop and rum- mage sales, and the resulting profits also have aided the congregation in beautifying the synagogue building and meeting many financial obligations. Eleanor Maness has served as 1988-1989 sisterhood presi- dent. Her executive board in- cludes Blanche Brant, Esther Icikson, Rosalie Dean, Ray Rosenberg, Freda Podolsky, Fay Fishman, Sharon Klein and Helen Brown.
