The Robert Kidd Gallery,
107 Townsend, Birmingham,
will present new sculpture by
Jay Lefkowitz and recent
paintings by Moe Brooker
Saturday through July 8.
There will be an opening
reception honoring the artists
on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Lefkowitz's painted, steel
sculptures take geometric
forms. He is also known for
his work in Italian marble.
Lefkowitz received his
B.F.A. degree from Columbus
College of Art and Design in
1975. He then moved to Car-
rera, Italy, to study with
master stone carvers. He
returned to Detroit in 1981
and worked in marble a cou-
ple of years. He now works en-
tirely in steel and has ex-
ecuted many public commis-
sions including a large piece
for Costain Coal in Troy, a
sculpture for Kirco Realty in
Bloomfield Hills and an out-
door sculpture for Eric Lutz
and Associates in Ann Arbor.
In addition to Robert Kidd
Gallery, Lefkowitz is af-
filiated with art dealers in
Sarasota, Houston and Los
Angeles.
Brooker's paintings contain
abstract references to jazz and
grafitti. Brooker is a
Philadelphia artist whose
work is in many museum col-
lections and who teaches at

the Pennsylvania Academy of
Fine Arts.
Gallery hours are: Tuesday-
Saturday, 10:30 a.m. - 5:30
p.m.

Artfest '89
Slated Tonight

The Women's Advertising
Club of Detroit will hold its
second annual Artfest '89 to-
day under tents on the
grounds of WXYZ-TV Chan-
nel 7, 20777 W. 10 Mile,
Southfield.
Artfest '89 will be held from
6 to 9 p.m., and will be hosted
by Bill Bonds, Channel 7
anchor.
Proceeds from Artfest '89
will fund the Women's Adver-
tising Club scholarship
program.
Artfest '89 is a focus on the
non-commercial side of
Detroit's advertising talent
and will include paintings,
drawings, lithography,
sculpture, jewelry, weaving,
silk screening, calligraphy,
photography and other art
forms.
During the evening, there
will be an acution of donated
works by Carl Owens, Tom
Cameron and Reva
Shwayder/Louis Gotheif.
Sonny Eliot will be auc-
tioneer. For tickets, call the
