AZA All-Stars
Defeat Akiba

Akiba of West Bloomfield,
winner of the recent Great
Lakes Council AZA Basket-
ball League Playoffs only the
week before found itself
outclassed by the AZA All-
Stars, 53-44, Sunday at the
Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center.
With All-Stars Marc Jacobs
of tourney runner-up L;Chaim
Jihad scoring 14 points and
Herzl of Windsor's Josh
Polsky adding 13, Akiba was
hard-pressed, trailing by as
much as 28 points during the
third quarter.
Other All-Stars who tallied
included Jeff Klein, 8 points,
and Dan Serlin, Jolson
Athletics, with 6.
Akiba was led by Scott Zack
with 12 points and Marc
Nakisher with 10.

AZA Is Ready
For Softball

Great Lakes Council AZA
softball league play is
scheduled to begin June 18,
according to Nathaniel War-
shay of the B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization.

A members-only softball
league — running eight
weeks (June 25-Aug. 13), in-
cluding playoffs — has been
scheduled by the Maple/
Drake Jewish Community
Center.
Games will be played Sun-
day mornings. A mandatory
organizatinal meeting for
players is scheduled at 8 a.m.
June 18 in Room 239. A prac-
tice will follow, weather
permitting.
