Elinor Morgenstein has
served Ibmple Kol Ami as
vice-president and chairman
of the religious school com-
mittee. She is also a choir
member. Henry Morgenstein
has served on the temple
board of trustees, was chair-
man of the religious services
committee and has assisted in
conducting services.
Sarah and Irving Pitt have
contributed to and underwrit-
ten numerous projects at
Temple Israel where they
have been long-time
members.
They established scholar-
ships for students in the tem-
ple's religious school to travel
to Israel, and have supported
various institutions in the
United States and abroad, in-
cluding a home for emotional-
ly disturbed children in.
Jerusalem.
Pamela Spitzer, a co-
founder of Shir Tikvah, was
the first secretary of the con-
gregation and helped lead the
first service in 1983. As co-
chair of the religious ritual
committee, she organized and
conducted numerous services.
She is the bar/bat mitzvah
coordinator and is serving her
second term as sisterhood
president.
Phyllis Wenig was also a co-
founder of Shir Tikvah. She
served as its first president,
was instrumental in setting
up the congregation's first
youth group and helped start
its first MSTY group. Wenig
has been active in developing
the congregation's high
school curriculum and serves
as one of the coordinators for
the school.
Rose Werney, who has
taught religious school at
Temple Beth El for years,
helped establish and write
the curriculum for the special
education class at the temple.
The class is open to any
Jewish handicapped child
and was established as a com-
munity service. She super-
vises kindergarten through
third-grade classes at the
temple.
