Hills Country Club recently

Hospice of Southeastern
Michigan. Relatives on
hand for the occasion were:

of Chicago and Lisa and

Chicago. Son and daughter-

More than $1,500 was
raised at the Young Variety
Club of Detroit's recent
"Call It Comedy IV"
benefit for the Rainbow
Connection held at Mark
Ridley's Comedy Castle.
The money will be used to
grant wishes for chronically
and terminally ill children.

recent reception to honor
Sam Lerner upon his
retirement as executive
director of the JFS. More
than 200 well wishers and
friends paid tribute to
Lerner at the affair at
Congregation Shaarey
Zedek, arranged by Maida
Portnoy and Susan Citrin
The Michigan Opera
Theater presented a
musical tribute to Lerner,
comprised of his favorite
songs, Broadway show
tunes and a Gershwin
medley. Spotted in the
crowd were: Dr. Arthur

and Regina Feuer, Dr.
John and Judy Marx,
Jonathan and Sandra
Jaffa, David and Fayga
Dombey, Claudia Gold,
Harvey and Lucille
Weisberg. The evening also
was the occasion to
announce the
establishment of the Sam
Lerner Endowment Fund to
be used for JFS staff
training.

Detroit awarded Sinai
Hospital Service of Love
Program with an honorable
mention for the 1989
Huegli Award. Rose
Greenberg, volunteer
outreach chairman; Jane
Blumberg, past president
of the Sinai Hospital Guild;
and Patricia Pilkington,
program coordinator,
accepted the award at a
recent luncheon at the
Westin Hotel. Some of the
Sinai support group in the
