be diagnosed as being men-
tally ill. They must have a
willingness to take prescrib-
ed medication and work
toward self-medication. The
participant must have no in-
tractable substance abuse
problems and must exhibit no
suicidal or homocidal
potential.
Each participant will have
five hours per week of staff
supervision. Counselors and
nurses will assist participants
with things such as paying
bills and arranging medical
appointments. In case of an
emergency, a staff member-
will be available on a 24-hour
basis. A psychiatrist will
meet with participants for
medication reviews and team
meetings.
The participant will even-
tually have the opportunity to
move out on his own or stay
in the program indefinitely.

JHA Unit Hears
Sportscaster

Eli Zaret, sportscaster for
WJBK-TV2, will be guest
speaker for the second annual
sports dinner to be held by
the benefactors of the Jewish
Home for Aged on June 14 at
6 p.m. at the Danish Club in
the American Center
Bulding, 27777 Franklin,
Southfield. Co-chairmen of
the event are benefactors
board members Ken Allen
and Geoffrey Silverman.
Founded last year, this
men's group serves as a link
between the Jewish Home for
Aged and the local corn-
munity to better promote and
advance the services provided
to the Jewish elderly.
