Muskegon Jewish Centennial Celebration Chairman Sylvia Kaufman is
shown at the Passover seder which concluded in the year-long
centennary observance in the western Michigan city. Four hundred
persons, including 21 Christian clergy and 230 of their parishoners
attended the kosher seder at the Muskegon Harbor Hilton.

Toledo communal leader
Alvis Wieder will be
presented with the State of
Israel's Jerusalem Award at a
dessert party on behalf of
Israel Bonds, to be held
7:30 p.m. June 13 at Con-
gregation Etz Chayim in
Toledo.
The event will be hosted by
the board officers of Etz
Chayim and co-sponsored by
the board officers of Temple
B'nai Israel and Temple
Shomer Emunim.
Mrs. Wieder is active with
the Toledo Jewish Welfare
Federation, as a division
chairman, Women's Division
campaign chairman, a
member of the federation ex-
ecutive committee and a
trustee. She is president of

the Women's Division board
and sits on the Israel Task
Force and the individual
social services committee.
Additionally, the Wieders
are top-level pacesetters in
the Israel Bond campaign.
A special guest speaker at
the tribute event will be
Jerome Gleekel, a noted
authority on Israel and. Arab
politics.
His involvement in Israel's
cause began in 1933 when he
joined the Hechalutz move-
ment for migration and set-
tlement in Palestine.
Gleekel has travelled
throughout the Middle East
and has had extensive conver-
sations with Arab mayors in
Israel and with leaders in
refugee camps in the region.
