concert tickets, motorcycles
and trips. The most expensive
prize was a car.
In California, he's still play-
ing the contests and even gets
his co-workers involved.
However, his winning streak
is on hold. "I haven't won
anything in a week and a
half," he said sadly. His main
interest is radio contests, but
he admits to entering the
Publishers Clearing House
sweepstakes. "I send it in and
hope for the best."
Dorfman also has written
and sold some cryptic
crossword puzzles and ques-
tions for telephone trivia
games. He has written for
Games Magazine and dabbles
in photography.
Even though he regards
writing for Jeopardy! a lot of
fun, to Dorfman there's a
greater thrill. "Seeing your
material on the air, that's the
best thing about Jeopardy!,"
he said.
Dorfman is happy the show
has been renewed through
1992, and plans to stick
around, if they'll have him.
Do sitcoms or movie scripts
beckon? If they do, Dorfman's
not interested. "I'm happy
where I am," he said. ❑

Ex-Detroiter
Wins TV Role

Comic impressionist Mendi
Segal has been tapped for his
first national TV role.
In September, former
Detroiter Segal will do the
voice of Reggie, a character in
a new Marvel Productions
cartoon series, "Rude Dog."
For the character, which
depicts a "Joe Cool" per-
sonality, Segal said he plans
to use a voice similar to the
Jack Nicholson impression he
does in his comedy routine.
The son of Meyer and Sun-
ny Segal of Oak Park, Mendi
started his professional corn-
edy career at Mark Ridley's
Comedy Castle in Berkley. He
also has done impressions on
Dick Purtan's radio show.
A resident of Los Angeles,
Segal has about 85 voices and
several dialects in his
repertoire.
