Square restaurants in
Jerusalem. The one at 6 Yoel
Salomon St. has a large selec-
tion of fish and dairy foods.
The restaurant on 17 Yoel
Salomon St. prepares meats
ranging from steak and liver
to veal and meat pies. The
dairy restaurant is housed in
one of the first Jewish homes
built outisde the Old City.
One of its recent famous
visitors was actor Richard
Dreyfus. During our visit a
hearby table was occupied by
author Herman Wouk.
Among the meat
restaurants in Jerusalem,
Hakerem (21 King George
St.) serves veal cutlets
sauteed in plum sauce and
duck in orange, almond or
pineapple sauce.
Agam (121 Agrippas St.)
serves more than 20 types of
meat and fish, which are
cooked over an open flame.
Stuffed vegetables and Greek
eggplant are a specialty here.
The walls are decorated with
works by local artists.
garden
A
secluded
restaurant, in the center of
town, is located between 8
Agrippas and Jaffa Road.
Hasimta features Middle
Eastern, traditional and
Jewish meat dishes. The
restaurant has discounts for
yeshivah students and
groups, and free ice cream bir-
thday cakes.
Both elegant and informal
dining is available at
Jerusalem's hotels. If you
should be visiting the Israel
Museum, or the Knesset
building, you can choose to
dine at two hostelries within
walking distance.
At the Ramada Renaissance
you can either dine in the
Jonathan Restaurant or in
one of the two sections of the
lovely Timna Coffee Shop.
The Jonathan has beautiful
buffet breakfasts each morn-
ing, to 10 a.m. The Timna is
located in what is probably
the most attractive hotel lob-
by in all of Israel.
For a more intimate at-
mosphere you can walk down
the street to the Jerusalem
Sonesta where the cosy
Capital Lounge, or Bustan
Dining Room, both feature
tempting meat and dairy
dishes.
Mexican, Italian and
Chinese are only a few of the
international foods awaiting
the kosher gourmet in
Jerusalem. Both French and
Italian dishes are served at
Poire et Pomme (2 Remez
Square). This dairy
restaurant has all kinds of
crepes, a salad bar and such
past choices as ravioli,
lasagna and eggplant
parmigian.
