"No one's going to get rich off this thing," said Tom Wilson, Pistons' chief ex- ecutive officer. "It's just a nice little promotional thing that's just a lot of fun." He said he "wouldn't be sur- prised" if the song were played prior to the Pistons' playoff games against the Milwaukee Bucks. "We'll pro- bably play it regardless of whether the NBA approves it," he said, pointing out the NBA approval is needed only for tape sales by the Pistons' outlets. Bad Boys, written and recorded by Stuart Zonder, now of Atlanta, and Bill Miller of Detroit, is being marketed and distributed by The Athletic Supporter Ltd. of Farmington Hills, which owns the "Detroit Bad Boys" trademark. The wording began appearing on clothing items after the NBA produc- ed a video, Bad Boys, about the Pistons, according to Bill Berris, president of the marketing firm. Berris said Wilson liked the Zonder-Miller song best of three that were submitted to the team.
