Beth Shalom Celebrates Its 36th Anniversary Congregation Beth Shalom will mark its 36th — or dou- ble chaff — anniversary this year and will celebrate the oc- casion with a major fund- raising event. On May 21, a dinner dance at the synagogue will honor the 35 founding families of Beth Shalom. The festivities will begin at 6:30 - p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, B'nai Moshe Honors Children The Evelyn Miriam Home Memorial Youth Fund will honor the B'nai Moshe nursery school children on May 20. A luncheon will follow. B'nai Moshe nursery school also will honor volunteer workers Pearlena Bodzin and Ilona Goldman. The nursery school will hold two information nights for September 1989. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at B'nai Moshe, a meeting will be held for the Oak Park branch; the meeting for the West Bloom- field branch will be held 8 p.m. May 24 at the Maple/ Drake Jewish Community Center. followed by dinner and danc- ing at 8 p.m. Beth Shalom will recognize the contributions of its foun- ding families at the celebra- tion. The congregation began with a small group meeting in the basement of Fred and Rhoda Krauss' home. More than 600 families now belong to Beth Shalom. In honor of the founders of Beth Shalom, the synagogue social hall will be renamed Founders Hall, and a com- memorative plaque will be placed at the lobby entrance. There is a charge. Rabbi Wine Hosts Program Rabbi Sherwin Wine of the Birmingham 'Temple will pre- sent a program dramatizing the appearance of his new book, Celebration, 8:30 p.m. Monday.
