Winnick Dr. Lawrence C. Winnick, a former Detroit-area physi- cian, died April 11 in Col- orado Springs, Colo., at age 70. Dr. Winnick was a member of the American Medical Association and Phi Lambda Kappa. He is survived by his wife; a son, Bill of Colorado Springs; three daughters, Gail Winnick Berkley of San Mateo, Calif.,Maralynn Win- nick Joshua of California, and Kim Meyers; a sister, Marion Pegram of Laguna Hills, Calif.; and several grand- children. Interment Colorado Springs. Dr. Martin Caplan Dr. Martin Caplan, an op- tometrist in St. Clair Shores for more than 35 years, died May 6 at age 64. Born in Detroit, Dr. Caplan resided in Mt. Clemens. He was graduated from the Nor- thern Illinois School of Op- tometry in 1948. Previously, he attended Oberlin Univer- sity and Wayne State University. He was a former board member of the Michigan Op- tometric Association. He leaves his wife, Sibyl; a son, Dr. David; two daughters, Debra of Santa Monica, Calif., and Mrs. Kennon (Carolyn "C.B.") Braswell; and one grandson. Josephine Fink Josephine Fox Fink, a secretary for 31 years for the Fred G. Nagle Co. in Detroit, died May 6 at age 94. Born in New York City, Mrs. Fink lived in Detroit 71 years. She retired in 1985. In her early 70s she began writing professionally, contributing reminiscence pieces to the Detroit News Sunday Magazine. In 1979, she began a weekly column in the Detroit Monitor. She leaves three nieces, Mrs. William (Jean) Hawkins, Mrs. Donald (Beatrice) MacGregor of Charlevoix, Mich., and Mrs. Eli (Josephine) Goodman of New York; great-nieces and great-nephews. Sydney Levison Sydney G. Levison, founder, president and chairman of the board of the Michigan Typesetting and Printing Co., died May 8 at age 83. Born in Detroit, Mr. Levison was the founder of the Sydney and Robert Levison Village at Tamarack Camp of the Fresh Air Socie- ty. At the time of his death, Mr. Levison resided in Miami Beach, Fla. While in Miami Beach, he was a life trustee of Mt. Sinai Medical Center. He served the medical center as a vice president of the board of trustees and as chairman of the purchasing and human resources committee. Mr. Levison was elected president of the Founders of the Mt. Sinai Medical Center for the 1985-1986 term. He also was a trustee of the Miami Jewish Home and trustee of the Hospital for the Aged. In 1985, he received the Distinguished Citizens Award from the mayor of Miami Beach. He was a member of the Westview Country Club. He leaves his wife, Isabelle; a son, Robert of Detroit; a daughter, Mrs. Sam (Ruth) Goodman of Bloomfield Hills; a sister, Estelle Federman; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
