LAKE

which can be removed from the twig-
like body.
Also on the upper level is the
powder room with floor base and
crown molding in black glass, free-
form vanity with brass sink and tam-
bor black glass front and curved
doors in tam bored glass.
In the back of the house is the
master bedroom, which was design-
ed with many different angles in mind
to give the owners a variety. For ex-
ample, at one end of the room is a
fireplace with a 30-inch hearth and
block grid of Italian ceramic tile. A
chair and settee designed by Design
Tex in raspberry with a metallic inset
is situated in front of the fireplace for
a warm, cozy evening to be enjoyed
during the cold winter months.
The bedcover and matching
upholstered bedframe with raw silk
fabric, once again in raspberry with
a touch of gray and a touch of teal
block prints, seems to pull the whole
sophisticated theme together.
The unique piece of art in the
home would be the sculptured
lighting behind the bed that gives a
pyramid-like effect.
"All the built-ins have been covered
with stretched linen that left an imprint
and was later lacquered," said Krass.
The carpet throughout the master
bedroom is a Masland wool, which
gives a rich, luxurious look. The
bedroom walls have been covered in
string paper to keep a soft, contem-
porary look.
The dressing area has black
wallpaper with actual gold strings
woven in. "We even did the closets
in the wallpaper," she said. "The
owner wanted black because she
loves it," said Krass.
Leading the way to the lower level
is a staircase with a bannister of
Andes granite.
The lower level houses a media
room, children's bedrooms, guest
room, second library, kitchen, bath,
laundry and exercise room.
Overall, the owners said, "We real-
ly like the floor plan that Barbi
created. The more formal areas are
on the main floor and all casual liv-
ing is on the lower level, walking out
to the lake."
