The piece de resistance is the spectacular view of the river and the city. Interior designer David Goldburg, of Ingles and Associates, kept the view as the focal point of the apartment. "The view is the first thing you see when you enter. You are real- ly impressed with the water," says „---- Goldburg. Goldburg describes the ambiance „--- as "very comfortable, very inviting and very warm." Since Rossen is a bachelor, Goldburg was concerned „-- with easy maintenance fabrics and textures. When this condo was photograph ed, Goldburg and Rossen were plan- ning a new arrangement for the liv- ,- ing room. The new furniture, con- sisting of some sofas in a plush mohair and custom cocktail tables, has two seating areas to include a „-- summertime view around the water and a wintertime, cozy, atmosphere near the fireplace. „---- While designing the apartment, Goldburg was careful to retain the Old World charm. "We did not want „---- to lose the details of the older building." Goldburg updated the kitchen, „-- while maintaining some details from a bygone era. The butler's pantry, cupboards, and original stainless steel sink remain, along with the bell for the owners to ring for the maids. „- He added some tile, laminated some counters and strategically placed the breakfast table so Rossen can enjoy his morning coffee overlooking Jef- ferson Ave. Goldburg deftly covered the „--- radiators incorporating them into the decor. He built a modular unit over one heating unit, while another „-- radiator serves as a window seat with leather cushions on top. „--- The dining room has a magnificent _„--- Persian, Bahktiari rug. The olive wood table complements the natural, „--- wood floor. Rossen finds downtown living very exciting. He mentions the theater, the Renaissance Center, the jazz music, and the interesting people. "There's a lot happening downtown."
