Marjorie Hecht Simon
Shows At Rubiner

The Rubiner Gallery, 7001
Orchard Lake Road, West
Bloomfield, will open an ex-
hibition of new works by
watercolorist Marjorie Hecht
Simon on Tuesday.
Simon is a graduate of the
School of the Art Institute of
Chicago, where she received a
four-year scholarship. After
she moved to Detroit, she con-
tinued her studies at Wayne
State University and the
University of Michigan. She
has painted and exhibited in
Michigan for more than 30
years.
Simon's work is in many
private and public collections
including: First Federal of
Michigan, Manufacturer's
National Bank, Michigan
Blue Cross, General Motors
Corp., Fruehauf Corp.,
Harper Hospital, Beznos-
Beztak Co. and Automobile
Club of Michigan. Her work
also hangs in the Jewish
Federation Apartments.
Simon has exhibited her
work in the Michigan Water-
color exhibitions, the Detroit
Artists' Market, the DIA Ren-
tal Gallery, and the Michigan
Artist Exhibitions. This will
be her sixth one-person show
at the Rubiner Gallery.
She painted four large
murals for the Children's
Hospital Outpatient Clinic
and paintings for Harper
Children's Radiation/On-
cology Center and Hutzel
Hospital.
The artist will be present

for an opening reception on
Tuesday at 7 p.m. The exhibi-
tion continues through June
1. The gallery hours are Tues-
day through Saturday, 11
a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is
welcome.

Student Art
Is Displayed

The 52nd annual Detroit
Public Schools Exhibition is
open at the Detroit Institute
of Arts. It continues through
May 21.
The exhibition is free
Tuesdays through Sundays
from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It
includes drawings, paintings,
sculpture, photography, tex-
tiles and design projects.

DIA Extends
Cleopatra Show

The run of "Cleopatra's
Egypt: Age of the Ptolemies,"
at the Detroit Institute of
Arts, will be extended
through Sunday.
Tickets are available by
calling the Cleopatra exhibi-
tion office, 833-0485.

Parsons Exhibit

Chuck Parsons, impres-
sionistic painter, will have an
exhibition of his new work
now through May 14 at the
Somerset Mall. •
